Fascinating Geology

Formed through millions of years of erosion, Na Phoong stretches over 3 kilometers of captivating galleries. Its underground river system, connecting Nam Cuong commune to Ba Be Lake, houses a unique ecosystem adapted to darkness. Historical Significance

Beyond its natural beauty, Na Phoong bears traces of Vietnamese history. During the Indochina War (1946-1954), it served as a refuge for Viet Minh forces and even housed a broadcasting point for the Voice of Vietnam, the national radio station. This played a crucial role during the Indochina War, broadcasting information and propaganda messages to support the Viet Minh's war effort.

Legends and Mysteries

The cave is also the birthplace of many local legends.
One tells of a protective dragon who supposedly made the cave its home. According to elders, this dragon watched over the region, protecting inhabitants from floods, droughts, and other calamities. It is said that on full moon nights, one can sometimes catch a glimpse of the reflection of its shimmering scales in the cave's underground waters.
Another touching story speaks of Linh and Minh, two young lovers from rival clans. Fleeing their families who opposed their union, they sought refuge in Na Phoong Cave. Legend has it they were never found, but their spirits are said to still haunt the cave, guiding troubled couples towards happiness.
There's also talk of a source of wisdom and a stone guardian... These tales add a mystical dimension to visitors' experience.
